In addition to the abundant wildlife, a large population of alligators can be seen casually cruising down this scenic river. But no worries...this is a safe and exciting tour. There is a minimum total group size of 6 people for this tour to launch. We are unable to launch this tour at this time due to the extreme summer heat.

Yes, this tour is safe. The alligators in Myakka State Park are wild and have not been feed or harassed by people. The alligator’s natural instinct is to be fearful of people. So, we respect them and they respect us. It’s safe and fun!

This is the ideal kayaking tour for bird lovers, bird watchers and all bird enthusiasts. The variety of birds seen depends on the time of year. It is possible to see Great Blue Herons, White Pelicans, White Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Yellow-crowned Night Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, Little Green Herons, Snowy Egrets, Roseate Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Sandhill Cranes, Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks, Owls and Limpkins. Also, there is a variety of birds of prey including Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and many types of Hawks.

You can explore the entire park, including miles of hiking and biking trails and the famous Canopy Walk.

Does the Myakka River water level have to be at a certain height to launch?

Yes. The water level of the Myakka River varies daily due to weather conditions and rain levels. To provide a quality tour, we will ensure that the water level is safe to kayak the entire river course before scheduling your tour.

Is the Myakka River Tour a difficult paddling experience?

No. The majority of the tour is down steam and since we paddle with the current, it’s a fun and relaxing paddle with many photo opportunities.

What is the cost of this tour?

The cost of this tour is $65 per person (plus your Myakka River State Park entrance fee). It can be paid by cash, check (including out-of-state checks), or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) at the time you BOOK your tour.

Where do we meet?

The Myakka River Tour launches from Myakka River State Park. Our gathering place before the tour begins is the parking lot just to the left of the park entrance/ranger station. MapQuest directions can be found on the Directions link.

How long is it?

This tour takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, including paddling instructions and launch time.

Do the kayaks fit all body types?

We have kayaks for all shapes and sizes. We will assist you in finding the kayak that best suits you. Our goal is to make sure that you are comfortable and enjoy your adventure.

What should I bring ?

We highly recommend bringing a bottle of water and items that you would normally have while you are out in the sun (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses). Cameras are okay, but we suggest putting them in a zipped plastic bag.

What should I wear?

Most people wear t-shirts, shorts and/or bathing suits. During the winter months we suggest a light wind breaker or a sweat shirt depending on the temperature and the wind conditions.  The most important thing is to be comfortable. As for shoes, wear something that you don’t mind getting wet - flip flops, aqua shoes, Tivas, or old sneakers are ideal.
